Adapted Swim

Swim therapy takes place in the outdoor pool at Ledbury. Occupational therapists work on swim skills, communication and self help skills during these sessions. Dressing and showering skills are worked on through routine and song. Some children participate in adapted swim instruction and many of our campers have mastered many goals in this program.

Snoezelen Swim

Swim therapy takes place in the snoezelon pool at Holland Bloorview and is led by an experienced Occupational Therapist. This program is both recreational and extremely therapeutic. This pool is effective specifically for children with muscle weakness because of the warm water, bubble massage, and sensory equipment. Some of the skills worked in in the water include strength and endurance exercises, balance, communication and social skills and basic swimming instruction.

Music Therapy

Everyone loves music! A qualified Music therapist leads the music groups involving everyone in a fun and skill based session. Social skills are emphasized and children are encouraged to share their thoughts and feelings with the group. Children who benefit from 1:1 music therapy receive weekly sessions.

Speech Therapy

We offer weekly speech therapy sessions in a consultation model. 1:1s are trained by a qualified speech and language pathologist to encourage communication and work on daily speech ‘homework’ with the child they are caring for. Our speech therapist will keep a clear log of gains and instruction for each camper receiving this service.

Occupational Therapy

Our occupational therapists are constantly in the rooms, running fine motor, gross motor and relaxation groups. Their constant direction on transferring, seating, positioning and feeding is crucial to the integration of each child.

Physiotherapy

– Daily 1:1 physio sessions with MEDEK certified therapist ensures that the children’s year round gains are not lost over the summer weeks. With their favourite counsellors encouraging and motivating campers are often seen making wonderful gains in Camp AIM. Physiotherapy in incorporated into the activities as the children practice integrating the movements they are working on during therapy sessions into their day.

Snoezelen Room

Our beautiful Snoezelen room includes fibre optics, bubble tubes and big crash mats. Many sensory items are available and sessions in this room are often calming for campers that crave sensory input. The snoezelen room has become a place where children are free to stretch and explore out of their wheelchairs and bond with friends and staff in a relaxing environment.

Pet Therapy

Sometimes a furry friend is all you need to motivate a young camper! The children love when the therapy pup comes for visits and often take turns walking and stroking them. Campers have opportunity for hands on exploration of many different animals through animal shows at camp. Snakes, bunnies, goats and parrots are just some of the animals we interact with!
